Protein Protein and more

Kansas, Wichita - Report by Taylor. Today, we will give information about Protein Protein and more.

I am of the school of thought that not all home made protein treatments are equal.......I believe that hydrolyzed proteins penetrate my hair better as the size of the protein is much smaller than the traditional treatments of eggs, mayonnaise, yoghurt, and avocados...... what is a hydrolyzed protein you ask..... well its a protein that has being broken down into component amino acids and this is achieved either by prolonged boiling in acid or using enzymes....which effectively makes the amino acids smaller than those you get from eggs, yoghurt or avocados......I first heard about hydrolyzed protein from a +My Natural Sistas video and I was intrigued............so I searched the whole of Joburg for a hydrolyzed  wheat protein..... but of course I could not find it anywhere.......then a friend told me that she had heard that if you added gelatin to your shampoo it would make you hair grow which made sense as gelatin was a protein.......so I started thinking if gelatin is a protein could you use it in protein treatments so I started researching  what type of protein  gelatin was on the WWW........I was amazed to learn  that GELATIN was in-fact a hydrolyzed protein made from animal based protein......... and so I started searching for Gelatin protein treatments there are of course a 100's  of recipes for gelatin protein treatments on the WWW but the most simple one is to dissolve 10g of gelatin to 1/2 a cup of water and let is semi set and use that on your hair and voila you have a pretty good protein re-constructor treatment...... of course me being me I adapted my treatment to what I wanted to get out of it and came up with my very own mix.......
For the method of treatment I also borrowed from the Aphogee 2 step Protein treatment but made mine 3 step........here is what I did........I started off by Clarifying my hair with Apple Cider Vinegar and Bicarbonate of soda.....you mix 4 Tbsp of Bicarb with 4 Tbsp of ACV and you had a 1/3 of a cup of water....... I mixed everything in an applicator bottle then once it was all mixed I put it on my hair and coated the hair from the root to the tip and massaged it into my scalp as well I put on a plastic cap and let it sit in my hair for 30mins.......for me the Clarifying step is important as it strips my hair of all product and cleans my scalp and also raises the cuticles on my hair so that the protein can adhere to the hair........

my own gelatin mix
I rinsed this off and then added my gelatin protein mix as soon as you put it on your hair you can feel your hair immediately starts to feel coarse and almost brittle........I applied the mixture to each and every single strand of my hair and tried not to manipulate my hair too much.......I then sat under a hooded dryer and let my hair completely dry.........at this stage it felt like a bag of wire wool was sitting on my head..............when it was dry I let this stay on my hair for an hour.............it is very important when you do a protein treatment of this type to deep condition your hair or it will break.......when the time was up I thoroughly rinsed the treatment off my hair and I deep conditioned my hair with Tresemme Naturals Aloe and Avocado and warm Honey I kept the deep condition on for at least two hours...........

protective style today
RESULTS for me I find this to be a much better treatment than eggs and mayonnaise my hair does feel much stronger after the treatment and there is 70% less shedding and my hair is smooth .......I have tried the traditional home made protein treatments and yes my hair did respond to them but not as well as it responds to the gelatin treatment....I have also used the Aphogee Protein treatment before and of course it is a professional treatment that has being tested and has the right balance of everything..... but I can say that my gelatin mix comes pretty close to feeling like a store bought protein treatment................

VERY IMPORTANT STUFF
Before you do any protein treatments on your hair please do a strand test to check whether there is any protein sensitivity as not everyone can stand proteins and they could do the opposite to your hair.....

I will put up the recipes of other protein treatments on my Mixtress page for you to try........

Xxx
