Smoothies,Souffle's, Pomades, Hair Milks, Moisturizers?

Georgia, Atlanta - Report by Isabella. Today, we will give information about Smoothies,Souffle's, Pomades, Hair Milks, Moisturizers?.

A lot of Natural Hair products are now available in Mzansi but they have some "strange" names which can be confusing.
Most of them sound like they should rather be eaten than used on hair. I mean what is a Hair Milk? When do you use a Pomade? What do Smoothies do? Is a leave-in conditioner the same as a Moisturizer? What on earth does a Custard do?  This post should make things a little easier for you the next time you are buying your hair products.

Product Description
One of the most important things to do when confronted with a product that has a "strange" name is to read the description carefully. This is normally on the lid of the product or label around the product. For example the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie has it's description on the lid and it clearly states that it is a CURL ENHANCER it obviously must contain products that will define your curls. A local product I get asked a lot about is the Nubian Nature Shea Lavender Moisture Souffle  this is in-fact a pretty awesome MOISTURIZER  that contains Shea Butter and lavender essential oil, they have also put the description of what the product does on the lid.

Hair Milks and Curl Refreshers?
Aunt Jackie's Hydrating Silkening Milk is a HYDRATING spritz that contains some conditioning agents, it instantly hydrates and softens your hair. Similar products to it are the Design Essentials Coconut and Monoi Curl Refresher, ORS Curls Unleashed Curl Refresher and the Cantu Coconut Oil Shine & Hold Mist these products all do pretty much the same thing they moisturize your hair, they are in a liquid form and are mostly packaged in a spray bottle. I found that these product are also great to use before styling some contain conditioning agents and can be used as leave in conditioners on very fine hair.

Read the Labels
Always make sure you read the labels because the worst thing to do, is to buy a product for over R300 expecting it to moisturize, when it is merely a Curl Enhancer. Manufacturers will always list the products other benefits such as hydrating, sealing and anti-frizz to entice you to buy, but it does not suddenly make the product become a moisturizer.

I have found that I am my own worst enemy, when it comes to buying products as I buy most of my products based on You Tube videos. I watch my favorite Natural Hair Vloggers as they style their hair, sometimes they can use up to 4 or 5 different products to achieve a certain style but, I buy only ONE of the products used in the videos to try to achieve the exact same results. Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't work, yes I might have similar products but when I "cocktail" products that do not work well together such as Eco Styler Gel and most leave in conditioners this gives me a residual. Most of the time I blame the Gel, when in-fact I have used an extremely heavy leave-in conditioner, lotion or moisturizer which causes residual. Eco Styler Gel and most gels actually work quite well on their own or with an extremely light leave in conditioner such as a hair milk.
I have found that  "cock-tailing" products from different brands sometimes makes the products not perform well, so make sure you test you mixtures before you put them on your hair to make sure they are compatible.

What products have you bought that havent worked? What are some of the exotic product names you have seen? Comment below and let me know
