Moisture Routine

Vermont, Burlington - Report by Chloe. Today, we will give information about Moisture Routine.

because I wear my hair in its natural state,  moisture is one of the most important things that helps maintain my hair health, over time I have noticed if my hair is moisturized  all the other things like growth automatically follow....... I have been threading my hair for over a month, so there has been no need for me to moisturize my hair everyday......BUT I make sure to take down the threading as often as necessary to moisturize my hair........as we all know with the Natural hair community there is always different methods of doing one thing furthermore, there is confusing and contradictory information on each and every single method......but what I have found is that I try something once if it works for me and fits into my lifestyle I use it if it doesn't then I move on....... so it is up to you to decide what works for you....... I use the 3 methods below and I interchange between them and not for any specific reason most times what dictates the method I use is what products I have available to use.........

Methods I use
LOC Method -   Liquid, Oil and Cream
LCO Method -   Liquid, Cream and Oil
LBO  Method -  Liquid, Butter and Oil

for this moisturizing demo I chose the LCO method........for LIQUID  I used Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Reconstructor (R99),  I absolutely love this spritz it gives my hair such life, when my hair is dry from neglect (yes sometimes I neglect my hair too) I just spritz this into my hair it bounces back to life, the Keratin part of it makes my hair stronger and it aids in minimizing split ends the Green Tea is filled with antioxidants that help to keep my hair healthy and shiny.......no part of my hair regimen is complete without Afro Botanics products so for the CREAM part of the method I used Afro Botanics Conditioning Moisturiser (R60)  this leave in conditioner smells delightful and it leaves my hair very soft and manageable........to seal everything the OIL I chose was Nubian Nature's Hair Elixir with Mongongo Oil (R80) this oil gives my hair such a shine and it also helps it to make my hair soft and smooth.........I also used Afro Botanics Super Hair Growth Creme (R70), I use this cream regularly for my edges. Since I started using this creme my edges are slowly recovering.....

I cannot emphasis how important moisture is for hair,  my hair grows out of my scalp coiled which means the sebum that is produced by my body does not travel right to the ends of my hair.....so there is a need for me to to put moisture into my hair more often, as I have said before the only thing that can moisturise hair is WATER, WATER and more water......oils and butters are not moisturizers they are either sealants or emollients (which makes our hair softer) so when I MOISTURIZE I always use water or something that is water based.........when my hair is moisturized it is  healthier and it grows..........but sometimes life gets in the way of "good hair" and I cannot always moisturize...........

The CREAM part of moisturizing is fairly new for me as I have never liked leave in conditioners as most of them would leave white residual in my hair (yuk) and unfortunately they made my hair feel like cotton wool but when I got introduced to Afro Botanics Conditioning Moisturiser I was hooked, my wash day routine now includes this amazing leave in conditioner, I find that it leaves my hair soft and smooth before this product I only used Aloe Vera Juice as a leave in conditioner, it left my hair soft and it smoothed my hair cuticles ..........the OIL part of moisturizing is really to seal in all the LIQUID  and CREAM sometimes I use butters instead of oils the butters work the same to seal in the moisture and they bring other nutrients that benefit the hair as well.  I am enjoying this oil from Nubian Nature as it has tea tree oil in it  as well which helps with Dandruff........

I think moisture is a vital part of any hair regime even if your hair is relaxed....... my advice would be to use whatever products that work for you more regularly so that you hair is constantly "quenched". Dry hair snaps like a twig, which hampers growth and it is dull and lifeless............ if you moisturize more regularly you will definitely see great results.......not only will your hair retain length it will be healthier and you will enjoy it even more............
